I love your take on French versus American humor. Your anecdote about Le Pére Noël est une Ordure reminds me of reading Martin McDonagh for a literature class. While I loved the fact that all his characters were deeply flawed and terrible, most of my classmates were a bit confused by this. We Americans are very groomed to seek out a protagonist, and quite honestly, in life things are rarely that simple.
