It's such an important lesson that sometimes sticking to your values won't make you any friends, but it's so important to be willing to not be "liked" sometimes in order to uphold your own values. Especially when you're a part of the dominant group, it can be tempting to just kind of take the easy route and fit in with everybody because as a society, we place such am emphasis on social acceptance.
